Dear Ms Brown,
Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your request of 11 April 2019 to Auckland Transport, transferred to the NZ Transport
Agency on 16 April 2019, requesting the following information under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act):
‘Can I please be provided with all information from the last 10 years relating to any incidents
or accidents (pedestrian or vehicle related) at or proximate to the Jervois Road controlled
crossing in front of Bayfield School and Pascals daycare in Herne Bay.’
There has only been one crash recorded in the last ten years within 30m of this crossing. The crash
was in 2017. No-one was injured, and the crash did not involve any pedestrians.
Regarding this information, it is important to note:
•
this data is provided from the road traffic crash database; Crash Analysis System (CAS)
•
data is for all crashes reported by the Police to the Transport Agency, for the years 2009 to
2018, as recorded in CAS as at 23 April 2019
•
data is limited to crashes within 30m of the control ed crossing on Jervois Road, in front of
Bayfield School
•
traffic crash data covers all NZ roadways or places where the public have legal access with a
motor vehicle
•
due to the police reporting time frame and subsequent data processing there is a lag from the
time of a crash to ful and correct crash records within CAS
•
due to the nature of non-fatal crashes it is believed that these are under-reported, with the
level of under-reporting decreasing with the severity of the crash.
For future queries of this nature, please first head to the Transport Agency Open Data Portal
(accessible here: https://opendata-nzta.opendata.arcgis.com/), where you can view, interrogate, and
download Transport Agency data that has been made publicly available.
You can find our crash data in our CAS (Crash Analysis System) interactive map (accessible here:
https://maphub.nzta.govt.nz/cas/), or through our CAS data page (accessible here: https://opendata-

User guides for the Transport Agency’s open data portal are available here, if you require them:
