I think a wider group could be beneficial, and I note that 9(2)(a) has expressed an interest.
Not sure whether we need to extend to the whole morning tea list, but maybe the PSG members can identify staff in their organisations that would benefit from
attendance.

last mile transport that could lead to transformational change in public transport. Inspired by the
potential city shaping opportunities offered by the coalescence of advancements in energy, vehicle
autonomy, ITS and communication technologies she has focussed her research on the many
opportunities and associated issues including vehicle and network design, road design, place and land
development opportunities and funding options.
She is currently working with Curtin University and others providing advice on emergent transport
technologies and opportunities for public transport in NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia,
USA, UK and Africa.

The Role of Trackless Trams in the Transport Revolution
There has been much interest in the concept of the ‘Trackless Trams’. However, there is much more
for key decision‐makers to consider than the Trackless Tram vehicle itself. This presentation discusses
both the city shaping possibilities of new automated transit systems and also the risks inherent in
Official
adopting new technologies.
Informed by studies, field trips and current trialling of the technology the presentation will cover in
brief the history of the trackless tram from rail and optical guided vehicles to level 4 autonomy. It
the
present for consideration the potential role integrated transit systems anchored by trackless trams
and supported by on‐demand vehicles, micro and active transit and communications and how these
could transform our cities from car dominated roadways into green interconnected living streets.
It looks at the lessons we have learned from earlier transport revolutions and from rubber tyred trams,
under
light rail and bus rapid transit. It raises questions of design standards and interoperability, and how
to design these new systems so they are resilient and adaptive to the changes that will flow from the
coming autonomous transport revolution and emergent technologies.
