RE: Memo to Councillors on Commercial Bottling of Water
Hi Karma
I am out of the office today at the judging day for NZ Young Enterprise Scheme. I’ll get onto this tomorrow. As far as
I know, the company is NOT Chinese and is NOT bottling on site and is NOT taking the whole site for this operation.
They are working through their NP3 process for food safety with MPI, so it is not a consent –simply compliance.
I am happy to meet with Cr McLeod if that helps.
Cheers
Stu

Subject: FW: Memo to Councillors on Commercial Bottling of Water
Hi Stu
Please see the email below from Councillor McLeod. Can you please help me with some information for the reply?
Is the company Chinese? I am fairly sure they are based overseas but I am not sure where? If we don’t know for
sure, I will just let them know that.
I think we can say they plan to export the water from the bore? What is the current consent they are seeking from
MPI? Should I mention this?
Let me know if you would rather draft this email.
Thanks for your help.
Karma

Many thanks Karma,
The situation at Refreshment Place is most unfortunate regarding the consent to take water from the
aquifer.

Do we know for sure that the former Coca-cola and Unipackaging premises has been bought by a Chinese
company and that they intend to bottle and export the water from the bore?

Kia ora,
Please find attached a memo on commercial bottling of water and the Water Bylaw. This was tabled and
discussed at the mayoral luncheon on Friday.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks
