RESOURCE CONSENT APPLICATION – WP180323T  
 
The Council met today and resolved that the application is to be publicly notified in accordance with 
s95A(9) of the RMA.  
 
Once  notified,  section  97  of  the  RMA  allows  any  person  interested  in  your  application to  lodge a 
submission  within  20  working  days  of  notification  of  the  application.  Submissions  may  either  be 
opposing, supporting or neutral. 
 
The cost of processing publically notified resource consent applications (including the hearing) varies 
considerably.  Most notified applications would typically fall within the range of $25,000 to $50,000, 
depending on the number and scope of any opposing submissions.  This is an  estimation of the 
costs  only  and  does  not  include  the  cost  of consultants  or  other  experts  that  you  may  choose to 
engage yourself.  Council staff will be able to give you a more accurate estimate of the likely cost 
after the submission period ends.   
 
In accordance with the Council’s Annual Plan, a further deposit of $5,750.00 (including GST) is now 
required before notification of your application can occur. Payment instructions are available on our 
website  (https://www.hbrc.govt.nz/our-council/about-council/contact-us/make-a-payment/)  or  from 
the  consents  advisor  (email:  [email address]),  or  if  you  choose  to  withdraw  the 
application, please advise us of this in writing.  
 
The application is now on hold (processing days excluded) under section 36(7) of the RMA, Council 
will proceed with notification of your application once this charge has been paid in full. Once payment 
is received a public advertisement will open a 20 working day period for people to lodge submissions 
on  your  application. We will  send  you  notice  of the  advertisement and  once  submissions  close  a 
summary of these submissions will be sent to you.
