Dear Barry
Extending the time to respond to your request made under the Official Information Act
1982
Thank you for your email of 9 August 2019 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
•
any correspondence (including but not limited to text messages, emails, messages
through messaging apps) between NZTA staff and the office of Mark Mitchell MP
between 1 May 2019 and today (28/08/2019). By office I also mean to include the MP
himself and his staff.
•
any correspondence (including but not limited to text messages, emails, messages
through messaging apps) between NZTA staff and the office of Chris Bishop MP
between 1 May 2019 and today (28/08/2019). By office I also mean to include the MP
himself and his staff.
The NZ Transport Agency is extending the 20 working days available to us to respond to your
request. This is allowed for under section 15A of the Act. We need 5 more working days to
respond to your request. We will send you our response on or before 2 October 2019.
We are extending the deadline because we need to consult others before we can decide how to
respond to your request. It will take us more than 20 working days to thoroughly respond to your
request.
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to
extend the time we will take to respond to your request. You can find the contact details for the
Ombudsman at: www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
If you would like to discuss the extension with the Transport Agency, please send an email to
[email address].
Yours sincerely
