Dear Adam
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
Re: St Jerome's Laneway Festival - 27 January 2020
I refer to your email, which we received on 16 August 2019, requesting information about St Jerome's
Laneway Festival - 27 January 2020.
I have liaised with our Arts, Community and Events department and can advise as follows.
What is the amount of the Event fee being charged?
Under the Trading and Events in Public Places Bylaw an event permit fee is applicable. The St Jerome's
Laneway Festival is charged the commercial high impact rate of $1,100.
Is there a rental or fee paid by the event organisers for the days Albert park is closed to the
public? And if so how much is that amount?
No, and therefore none.
What are the quantum of costs incurred by the Auckland Council family, to facilitate this event?
Costs incurred by the Council family are limited to staff processing of the event permit application
received. This amount is not quantifiable because it is absorbed into staff salary costs.
Which budget do they come from and what financial contribution or reimbursement do the event
owners make to cover or reimburse those costs?
The event facilitator roles are permanent ful -time roles which are paid by staffing budgets.
Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to your request, you have the
right by way of complaint, under section 27(3) of the LGOIMA, to apply to the Ombudsman to seek an
investigation and review of the decision.
If you have any further queries please contact me on 09 301 0101 quoting Official Information Request
