Dear Kelly,
Official information request – FASS 120/240 point Masters Award
I refer to your official information requests to the University dated 4 and 9 October 2019 asking
for the following:
How many applicants there were for the FASS Scholarship
How many FASS Scholarships were awarded
A list of the GPA of all applicants
A list of the GPA of all successful applicants
What was the GPA cut-off in 2018 for the University Offered Academic Merit Graduate
Research Scholarships? In other words, what was the lowest GPA of successful scholarship
recipients?
There were nine applicants for the FASS Scholarship in Round 2 of the 2018 awards. Of those
applicants, five were successful.
The GPAs of the applicants are personal information and are, in the University’s view,
confidential. The University therefore refuses your request to that specific information under
section 9(2) of the Official Information Act. It can confirm however, that the GPAs of all
applicants (including the successful recipients) were within the expected B+ grade average
required by the Regulations.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at
