[FYI request #11371 email]
Dear Shahil
Thank you for your email of 3 October 2019 to the Ministry of Education requesting the
following information:
•
A breakdown of the country of origin for overseas teachers that have been approved
to teach in New Zealand from 2008 to current date.
•
The annual cost for advertisements to promote overseas teachers to teach in New
Zealand from 2014 to current date.
As advised on 15 October 2019, part 1 of your request was transferred to the Teaching
Council. The remainder of your request has been considered under the Official Information
Act 1982 (the Act).
The Ministry needs to extend the timeframe of our response to part 2 of your request by 20
working days, pursuant to section 15(A)(1)(a) of the Act, as we do not hold the data in the form
you requested, therefore, we need to undertake significant collation. For this reason, you can
expect to receive a response to your request by 29 November 2019. I expect that we wil be
able to respond to you before this date.
Please be advised that should you have any concerns regarding this extension you have the
right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate our decision to extend the timeframe. You can do
this by writing to
[email address] or Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box
10152, Wellington 6143.
Yours sincerely
