Dear Arron
OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT REQUEST OIA-19-82 – LAWS 110 GRADE BREAKDOWN

taking LAWS110 in 2018 and 2019. You requested:
1) A statistical breakdown of final grades for the course LAWS110 as taught in Semester 1 2018 and
Semester 1 2019.
This aspect of your request is refused under s9(2)(a), to protect the privacy of natural persons. This is
because the number of students achieving specific grades is smal , and would potential y al ow
individuals to be identified. The University considers grade information to be sensitive personal
information, and takes precautionary measures to protect it. This information is also withheld under
s9(2)(i) to enable an organisation to carry out commercial activities without prejudice or disadvantage.
There is concern that the release of this information would affect the University’s student recruitment,
student retention, and the administrative burden.
