Visitor numbers, Fairy Falls track
I refer to your email on 26 November 2019 in which you requested information on the
number of visitors using the Fairy Falls track prior to the closure of the forested areas in the
Waitākere Ranges in May 2018.
Due to the number of tracks in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, not al tracks are
monitored. Visitor usage of the Fairy Falls upper track off Scenic Drive has been periodically
monitored and the numbers in the table below represent visitor numbers during the periods
where monitoring was carried out. This information should be treated as an indicator of
usage rather than an absolute count.
The numbers represent the number of visitors walking the Upper Fairy Falls Track and
presumes it is a return trip.
The table below shows visitor numbers for the period 2012-2018.

improved track count information and enable more regular monitoring across a greater
number of tracks.
