Hello Chris and Matt
Hope all is well with you, and thanks again for keeping in touch while I’ve been overseas.
ACT
I’m emailing to confirm we are ok to meet on Monday at 3:30pm, and that I should delete the original meeting
scheduled for 2pm?
During our most recent conference call I took a couple of actions:
1. Lead agency representation
Some of the key datasets have straight forward improvements. A good example of this is the building
outlines, where the improvement plan is helping guide their work programme to provide additional
UNDER
attribution. In this instance this is only one representative for the key dataset.
For key datasets where the improvements require some level of organisational change, such as Stats NZ and
NZTA, two representatives are invited to each meeting to represent technical issues and organisational or
political issues. It therefore might be appropriate for you both to represent Fire and Emergency NZ at the
meetings in future. Perhaps we can discuss this further on Monday, as I recognise this would be a significant
commitment of your time.

2. Liability
Gavin asked about the risk of Fire and Emergency NZ being liable if the data was more readily available. The
Creative Commons licence Section 5 ‐ Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability, confirms the data
is supplied as‐is and that in no event will the licensor be
RELEASED
liable. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode Publishing the data as a service, as Matt
said at the time, will ensure that users have access to the most uptodate information which will also
minimise the risk that a user is making decisions based on outdated information.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
