Please find the following answers to your Official Information Act request of 11 February 2020
regarding admission into the MB ChB programme at the University of Otago via the NZ Rural sub-
category for 2019 and 2020.
The number of New Zealand Rural Origins sub-category seats available in each year (graduate
category only)
There are not a set number of Rural sub-category places available in the Graduate admission
category for the MB ChB. There are 55 government funded Rural Origins places in total across all
categories (Health Sciences First Year, Graduate, and Alternative).
The number of New Zealand Rural Origins sub-category applicants in each year (graduate category
only)
In 2019 there were 36 applicants and in 2020 there were 40.
Lowest successful first round offer GPA in each year (graduate category only)
For 2019 the GPA for the lowest successful first-round offer was 7.43 and in 2020 it was 7.75.
Lowest successful waitlist GPA each year (graduate category only)
In 2019 the lowest successful offer from the waitlist was 7.05 and there is not a Rural sub-category,
Graduate category waitlist for this year.
