Dear Mr Harris,
I am writing in regard to your official information request dated 3 March 2020 regarding information
about the University of Otago’s compliance with the Education (Pastoral Care of Domestic Tertiary
Students) Interim Code of Practice 2019.
The Official Information Act requires that we provide the information for your request no later than
20 working days after we received your request (due 31 March). Unfortunately, it will not be
possible to meet that time limit and I am therefore writing to notify you of an extension under
section 15A(1)(b) of the Act.
The extension is due to the time needed to complete consultation in the preparation of the
response. I am thus advising that the response will now be provided no later than Thursday 23 April
(15 working days). I have specified this timeframe to ensure there is sufficient time to prepare the
response in the context of the Covid-19 lockdown; however, I will endeavour to provide the
information in advance of this date.
I note your right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman about this extension under
section 28(3) of the Official Information Act.
Yours sincerely,
Claire Gallop
