Thank you for your request to the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) of 16 March 2020 under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) for: 
 
“Cost of ESR Report - Review of Remediation Standards for Clandestine 
Methamphetamine Laboratories: Risk Assessment recommendations for a New 
Zealand Standard. The above report was commissioned by the Ministry of Health in 
2016. 
 
Please advise the cost of the report. If a precise figure cannot be provided, due to 
commercial sensitivities, please provide a range within which the costs fall i.e. $60-
65,000.” 
 
The report is one part of a suite of services that are included in the Ministry’s contract with the 
Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR). There is no specific costing range 
available for this individual report.  
 
As this report is part of a wider contract for services and not individually costed, I am unable to 
provide you with the cost or an estimated cost under section 18(g) of the Act as the 
information is not held by the Ministry, nor do I believe it is held by another agency. 
 
You have the right, under section 28 of the Act, to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision 
to refuse your request.
