Thank you for your request of 20 March 2020 to the Ministry of Education requesting
information on
Informed consent for proprietary software used at NZ public schools. Your
request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
The Ministry needs to extend the timeframe of our response to your request, pursuant to
section 15A(1)(b) of the Act, as the consultations necessary to make a decision on the request
are such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original
time limit.
With Covid-19 evolving the Ministry is responding and re-directing resources as needed, which
is impacting on our ability to deliver some of our usual functions within the normal timeframes.
In the current climate it is not possible to provide you with a definitive date by which we wil be
able to respond to your request. However, please be assured that we wil keep you updated
and wil provide you with a new expected due date as soon as we are in a position to do so.
We are grateful for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times.
Please be advised that should you have any concerns regarding this extension you have the
right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate our decision to extend the timeframe. You can do
this by writing to
[email address] or Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box
10152, Wellington 6143.
