The total number of deaths in New Zealand per week from 1 January 2015 to 30 April 2020.
The information you have requested have only recently been made available to us and you can find it on
Stats NZ COVID-19 Data Portal at
https://www.stats.govt.nz/experimental/covid-19-data-portal. Please
make sure to look under the ‘health’ section and select ‘weekly death’ under category to find the
information you have requested.
Stats NZ COVID-19 Data Portal was developed as part of the government’s response to COVID-19. One of its
main purposes is to gather key high-frequency and near real-time economic indicators to help track the
impact of COVID-19 on our economy and inform decision making.
If you are not satisfied with this response, you have the right, by way of complaint to the Office of the
Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the Act, to seek an investigation and review of this response to your
request.
Stats NZ intends to publish its response to your request made under the Act on the Stats NZ website. This
letter, with your personal details removed, will be published in its entirety. Consistent with the Act,
publishing responses increases the availability of information to the public and helps promote balanced
public debate.
