Health and Safety Policy
Commitment
Council management and elected members are committed to planning for and providing a safe and
healthy working environment for all workers, contractors, visitors and other stakeholders ensuring
everyone in the workplace goes “Safely Home Each Day”.
Health & Safety is a priority, we believe there is no task so important that it cannot be done safely or
undertaken without care and respect for ourselves and others;
Objectives
Kaipara District Council is committed to fulfilling the following objectives:
•
Complying with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and accompanying
Regulations and their amendments, Standards, Codes of Practice and Guidelines providing
for health and safety of people at work;
•
To actively identify and manage workplace Health and Safety risk through the systematic
identification of hazards, evaluation of risk and implementation of effective risk controls;
•
Vehicles, plant and property are maintained in a safe condition to prevent damage or injury to
workers or others;
•
Where Council has influence or control over a workplace risk or shares a duty, we will consult,
cooperate and coordinate with other organisations to achieve a safe working environment:
•
Maintain effective worker participation and engagement arrangements, ensuring that decisions
made that impact Health & Safety are communicated to all workers and stakeholders;
•
Ensure all incidents get promptly reported and investigated, root causes and appropriate
corrective actions are identified, that will aim to eliminate or reduce the risk of reoccurrence;
•
Should any employee be injured while at work, Council is committed to actively support their
return to work and participate in their rehabilitation.
