Ref: DOIA 2021-0009
Dear Anatoliy Goryachev,
Thank you for your email of 30 June 2020, requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the OIA):
1) In a recent interview with Indian Weekender (interview held on 28 June 2020) Hon Iain Lees-
Galloway stated that both residence streams are moving. I think a lot of applicants would love to
know the pace of this movement. Therefore, could you please share the numbers on how many
residence applications were allocated to case officers (separately for priority and non-priority
queue) for each of the below-mentioned weeks:
1 June - 7 June 2020
8 June - 14 June 2020
15 June - 21 June 2020
22 June - 28 June 2020;
2) I also would love to know the lodgement date for the oldest application from the non-priority
queue;
3) Also please share if Immigration New Zealand have any plans on resuming EOI for the
SMC/RFW streams in a foreseeable future.
Our response
It is my understanding that you are referring to skilled residence visa applications in your
questions 1 and 2. Please note that the skilled residence applications processed in the Manukau
office are made up of Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) and Residence from Work (RFW)
applications. They are not split into two separate queues based on the application
category. Once an application is accepted for processing it is then identified as to whether it
meets the prioritisation criteria, or not, and triaged into either the priority or non-priority
queue. Therefore the below data contains both SMC and RFW categories.
Question 1

I also would love to know the lodgement date for the oldest application from the non-priority
queue;
As of 16 June 2020, the oldest unallocated application in the non-priority queue was received on
17 December 2018.
Question 3
Also please share if Immigration New Zealand have any plans on resuming EOI for the SMC/RFW
streams in a foreseeable future
No decisions have been made as of today. Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will continue to
reassess and determine when Express of Interest (EOI) selections can take place as the situation
develops. You can find updated information on INZ’s website:
