- Meeting notes:
o Kiwi Rail outlined two options being considered for a new multi-user ferry terminal – Kaiwharawhara and Kings Wharf
o Kiwi Rail stated its preference was for the Kings Wharf option but that the Kaiwharawhara option was, at this stage, the preferred option of other
the
stakeholders
o LGWM explained that it has no mandate to provide a view on the merits of each option - that would be a matter for the LGWM partners
o LGWM noted there are three LGWM projects that interface with Kiwi Rail (MRT/Railway Station, State Highway improvements, and Thorndon
Q/Hutt Road) and would like to work with Kiwi Rail on these projects as an important stakeholder
o LGWM noted that each project is part way through a business case process so there is as yet no detailed evidence from the Programme’s
under
perspective that could point to one option being more beneficial than another to LGWM or to Kiwi Rail. Each would have advantages and issues to
overcome.
o LGWM asked what Kiwi Rail’s interim plans are should the new ferry terminal not be built in time for when the new ferries arrive in 24/25. Kiwi Rail
responded to say that they are yet to work through those details
