I write in response to your Official Information Act request of 28 June 2020, seeking information on 
the NZ Rural Origins sub-category of the University of Otago MB ChB for the last cohort, which I take 
to be the 2020 intake selected in 2019.  Answers to each of your requests fol ow: 
(1) The number of New Zealand Rural Origins sub-category seats available in each year (HSFY
category only)
The number of Rural places is determined across the total cohort and no specific number was set for 
the HSFY category in 2020.  There are 55 rural places available in total. 
(2) The number of New Zealand Rural Origins sub-category applicants in each year (HSFY category
only)
Including applicants applying under multiple sub-categories, 75. 
(3)  Lowest successful first-round offer GPA in each year (HSFY category only) 
88 for the Rural sub-category (HSFY) for 2020. 
(4)  Lowest successful waitlist GPA each year (HSFY category only)
87.71 for the Rural sub-category (HSFY) for 2020.
