Dear James,
I refer to your Official Information Act (OIA) request dated 13 July 2020 in which
you requested the following:
Number of persons arrested on Karangahape Road Auckland between
1/1/2019 and 30/7/2020 and the reason for arrest e.g. intoxicated, assault,
shoplifting etc between 11pm and 7am
Number of persons arrested on Queen Street Auckland between 1/1/2019
and 30/7/2020 and the reason for arrest e.g. intoxicated, assault,
shoplifting etc between 11pm and 7am
Number of persons arrested on Ponsonby Road Auckland between
1/1/2019 and 30/7/2020 and the reason for arrest e.g. intoxicated, assault,
shoplifting etc between 11pm and 7am
Number of persons arrested in the Auckland Viaduct between 1/1/2019
and 30/7/2020 and the reason for arrest e.g. intoxicated, assault,
shoplifting etc between 11pm and 7am
Statistics published by New Zealand Police are broken down by defined
geographic units, not specific addresses. In addition, New Zealand Police publish
statistics by month and by year, not specific dates or time periods. Therefore,
your request has been refused under section 18(g) of the Official Information Act
as the information is not held.
New Zealand Police proactively release statistics to the public and are updated
monthly. This information is available online at
policedata.nz. Please read the
instructions on the summary page on how to use these reports.
For your particular request, please do the following:
• Go to policedata.nz and double click on the “Proceedings (police
stations)” report.
• From the ‘Proceedings (police stations)’ report, select the tab labelled
‘Districts’.
• Select the time period you require by moving the sliding bar on “Select
Time Period”.
• You wil find the information you requested from the ‘Crime Type’ and
‘Police Boundaries’ charts of the report.
• The Police Station “Auckland Central” falls under the “Auckland Central
Area” Police Area and the “Auckland City” Police District. Please note that
you will need to click the “+” icon above the “Police District” heading to
expand the categories to show all Police Areas.
• The “Crime Type” and the “Trend” charts automatically update when you
highlight/select specific Police Boundaries categories.
• Finally, you can export these data using the download icon at the bottom
of the page and selecting “Data”.
