Official Information Act request – salary details for NZIST Chief Executive and Deputy 
Chief Executives 
Thank you for your email sent on Saturday 24 August 2020 requesting the following information 
under the Official Information Act 1982 (the OIA): 
Please supply details of the salaries paid to the Chief Executive, and the six Deputy Chief 
Executives. 
As is usual in the public service I would expect these to be given in bands. 
The salary details for the Chief Executive are publicly available. However, to save you 
searching, I can advise the Chief Executive's salary is $675,000. 
NZIST was established on 1 April 2020 and has not yet confirmed salary bands for senior 
leadership roles. This work will be progressed once NZIST has recruited specialist Human 
Resource staff. To ensure the DCE roles were appropriately sized and remunerated, NZIST 
engaged Korn Ferry to conduct an independent job size of the six roles. This work compared 
position descriptions against public and private sector market data to develop salary ranges. 
While I am withholding the specific salary details of the recently recruited Deputy Chief 
Executives under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA to protect the privacy of natural persons, I can 
advise you that the salary range for the six DCE roles is $253,249 - $392,214.
