Thank you for your email of 6 October 2020 requesting the following information under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) from the Department of Internal Affairs (the 
Department): 
“all correspondence between your agency and the Minister for racing regarding 
Greyhound Racing between 1 Jan 2020 and 5 Oct 2020” 
The Department has conducted a thorough search and has determined it does not hold any 
information within the scope of your request. Therefore, I am refusing your request under 
section 18(e) of the Act, as the information does not exist.  
However, you may be interested to know that there are two documents that relate to the 
proposal in the Racing Industry Bill, now the Racing Industry Act 2020, to classify racing 
greyhounds as working dogs for the purpose of the Dog Control Act 1996. The documents 
are titled Racing Industry Bill, Legislation Paper; and Racing Industry, Review of Racing Paper 
1: Overview of the Final Racing Industry Reforms. These documents can be found on the 
Department’s website at www.dia.govt.nz/Proactive-Releases. 
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Act, to seek an investigation and review of this
