RE: Official Information Act Request Hospital Occupancy – Ref: H202007726
We have received this OIA from the MOH to respond to your request for information.
1) What is the maximum bed occupancy in ICU across all hospitals in New Zealand
Waikato DHB has a maximum of 16 beds in our ICU.
2) What has been the bed occupancy rate (% of beds occupied in ICUs) by
week/month (which ever time period is available) across the same hospitals in Q1,
for the period 15 March 2020 to 1 October 2020.
Our occupancy rate is calculated as the total occupied bed minutes divided by the total
available minutes in a week.
