Re: Swimming Pool Safety Advisory Committee
I refer to your email dated 27 January 2014, which we received on 27 January 2014,
requesting information about swimming pool safety advisory committees.
At their 28 July 2011 meeting, the Governing Body delegated decisions on Exemptions from
the Fencing of Swimming Pools Act 1987, to Local Boards
(Resolution number
GB/2011/163)
Following this meeting, individual Local Boards either formed swimming pool fencing
exemption subcommittees or chose to retain the decision-making at meetings of the full local
board. The membership, appointment dates and minutes of the subcommittees are detailed
in the enclosed spreadsheet.
Minutes of the local board meetings in which subcommittees were formed and minutes of the
subcommittees are available on the Auckland Council website. If there are any declared
conflicts of interest they are stated in the minutes of the meetings. Minutes from the two of
the Franklin Local Board swimming pool exemption subcommittee meetings which have not
yet been loaded to the Auckland Council website are enclosed. Local Board Members do
not receive any additional remuneration for their roles on swimming pool fencing exemption
subcommittees.
