Thank you for your email of 16 December 2020 to Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities requesting 
the following information under the Official Information Act 1982: 
 
Could we please be made aware of the costs involved to the taxpayer in regards to xmas 
parties this year? Wether this be directly funding parties or allowing staff paid time off. 
 
Kāinga Ora contribution to end of year functions provides a $40 per person allocation for permanent 
and fixed term employees. This can be used for food, venue hire, transportation if required, spot prizes 
and entertainment. This allocation cannot be used towards alcohol. Each employee is subsidised for 
only one function per year.
