4 January 2021 requesting the “Total number of contacts,
and their dates, between the Claro Law Firm and all offices of the HDC from 1 June
2020 to 31 December 2020.”
I have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982.
Refusal of request or aspect of request
To identify contacts between Claro Law and HDC would require that we search each
separate complaint for the period. Therefore, I refuse your request pursuant to
section 18(f) of the Official Information Act, as the information requested cannot be
made available without substantial collation or research. I do not consider that
charging you for this or extending the time limit under sections 15 and 15A of the
Official Information Act would enable the request to be granted.
For your information, HDC has not instructed Claro Law to act on its behalf.
You may seek a review of this decision from the Office of the Ombudsman.
