On 22 January 2021, you contacted the Ministry for Pacific Peoples (the Ministry) requesting, under
the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
•
Documentation that outlines any MPP funding to Pacific focused social services
organisations including those associated with Pacific churches and Pacific churches
themselves for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 (if available).
•
Documentation that outlines any MPP funding to organisations that respond to family
violence and sexual violence for the above time frame.
On 26 January 2021 the Ministry contacted you to advise that your request was broad in scope and
needed to be refined as it was likely to be refused under section 18(f) of the Act due to substantial
manual collation. On the 26 January 2021, you clarified your request for the following information:

Records of MPP funding to Vahefonua Methodist Mission Charitable Trust for the years
2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 (if 2021 is available)?
We have interpreted your request as funding approved and paid to the Vahefonua Methodist
Mission Charitable Trust.
In response to your request, please find enclosed the following table: Funding approved and paid to
Vahefonua Methodist Mission Charitable Trust for financial years 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21, as
at the 26 January 2021.
Tongan Language Week Fund
The Ministry for Pacific Peoples works closely with Pacific communities to maintain and promote
heritage languages. Languages magnify the value of a community, providing a vital link between our
place in Aotearoa and our heritage as peoples of the vast blue Pacific continent. The Languages
Week Fund provides support for lead community groups to promote, plan and deliver on Language
Week activities and events.
Community COVID-19 Fund (CCF)
The Community Covid-19 Fund supports Pacific communities and groups who are leading and
driving their own solutions to respond and recover from the impacts of Covid-19.

Toloa Community Fund
Established in 2015, the Toloa Community Fund has been set up to support organisations and
community groups to promote and deliver Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
(STEM) activities to Pacific young people, through engaging key Pacific influencer groups including
parents, families and community leaders.
In support of the principles and purposes of the Act, the Ministry now proactively publishes its
responses to Official Information Act requests. As such, this letter will be published on the Ministry
for Pacific Peoples’ website. Your personal details will be removed, and the Ministry wil not publish
any information that would identify you as the person who requested the information.
