Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health (the Ministry) on 26 February 2021 for:
“This OIA request is for al data and other information relating to the Ministry phone used
by Waiatamai Tamehana 027 373 4051 and the calls and text messages sent from that
phone to the number of our phone (which the Ministry is well aware of, that phone is 021
04 818 **) on 12 March 2020.
This OIA request is for all information regarding the meeting at the Ministry of Health
offices on or about 13 March 2020 with Aroha Metcalfe and another woman to discuss
the offensive disturbing and misleading communications from Waiatamai Tamehana on
12 March 2020, and all information regarding the actions taken by the Ministry of Health
in response to the complaints made at that meeting about the actions of Waiatamai
Tamehana, as well as the response of the Ministry to our original complaint about the
Ministry support of Nga Hau E Wha.
This includes the images of the text messages we received from Tamehana, which were
photographed using another phone by Aroha Metcalfe and the other woman, the name
of the other woman at that meeting, and all information about this second complaint
about the manner in which Waiatamai Tamehana and Bernard Te Paa and the Ministry
dealt with our original complaints about Tui Taurua, Jak Wild, Victoria Roberts, Bil
Hamilton and Nga Hau E Wha.”
The Ministry does not hold phone records for the cell phone number 027 373 4051 because it is
not a Ministry cell phone number. There is no reason to believe this information is held by any
other agency subject to the Act, as such this part of your request is refused under section 18(g)
of the Act.
The information you have requested in relation to Waiatamai Tamehana forms part of a Ministry
employee record, the request for this information is refused under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to
protect the privacy of natural persons.
Al information held by the Ministry in relation to your complaints regarding Tui Taurua, Jak Wild,
Victoria Roberts, Bil Hamilton and Nga Hau E Wha, have been previously released to you in
OIA responses H202008684, H202000787, H201801868 and Tairāwhiti DHB OIA response
12896.
