Official information request - Cal aghan Innovation IP programme, next year’s programme
I refer to your official information request dated 10 February 2021 for the fol owing information:
1. Please advise whether, and if so why, Cal aghan Innovation is running the Innovation IP programme
(or an equivalent programme) next year?
2. Does Cal aghan Innovation intend to limit the number of Intel ectual Property Service providers?
3. If Cal aghan Innovation intends to restrict the number of service providers, please advise why?
4. Has Cal aghan Innovation communicated with Intel ectual Property service providers over any
details of the design of the programme to be offered next year? If so, please share these details.
5. At this point, does Cal aghan Innovation have information identifying specific intel ectual property
related services that may be needed by New Zealand businesses, so as to necessitate the Innovation
IP programme or a similar programme next year? If so, please share this information.

2. Does Cal aghan Innovation intend to limit the number of Intel ectual Property Service
providers?
Response:
This is something that Cal aghan Innovation is considering as part of its internal design process for
the next version of the programme.
3. If Cal aghan Innovation intends to restrict the number of service providers, please advise why?
Response:
No decision has been made.
For context: reducing panel sizes so that they best reflect the volume of work available to them is
not only a commonly-used procurement approach, but something that is set out in the Auditor

General's guidance on how to manage supplier panels. This would be relevant information that
would be considered.
4. Has Cal aghan Innovation communicated with Intel ectual Property service providers over any
details of the design of the programme to be offered next year? If so, please share these details.
Response:
No, Cal aghan Innovation has not communicated with Intel ectual Property service providers over
details of the design of the programme.
5. At this point, does Cal aghan Innovation have information identifying specific intel ectual
property related services that may be needed by New Zealand businesses, so as to necessitate
the Innovation IP programme or a similar programme next year? If so, please share this
information.
