We are writing to acknowledge your email dated 18 March 2021 requesting the fol owing information under
the Official Information Act from Canterbury DHB. Specifical y:
I am seeking information on the performance and service of DHBs for their provision of mental health
services. I would like data for the fol owing:
1. For Community Mental Health; Child and adolescent metal health; and (Te Haika) Mental Health Crisis
response:
a. Number of distinct new entries/cases per month, by age group (five-year bands if possible*), 2015 –
2020 calendar year
b. Number of total new entries/cases per month, by age group (five-year bands), 2015 – 2020 calendar
year
c. Number of distinct cases open at month end, by age group (five-year bands), 2015 – 2020 calendar
year
d. Number of distinct exits per month, by age group (five-year bands if possible*), 2015 – 2020
calendar year
e. Number of total new exits per month, by age group (five-year bands), 2015 – 2020 calendar year
2. For the DHB:
a. Number of hospitalisations for mental health per year, by age group (five-year bands), 2015 – 2020
calendar year
b. Number of people waitlisted to see a psychologist per year, by age group (five-year bands), 2015 –
2020 calendar year
c. Number of people seeing a psychologist, per year, by age group (five-year bands), 2015 – 2020
calendar year
d. Number of psychologists employed by the DHB at year end (split by part time, ful time, contracted)
by year, 2015 – 2020 calendar year
(*Five-year bands are ideal y 0 – 5, 6 – 10, 11 -15, 16- 20, 21 – 25, 26 -30, etc. If there is too much suppression
in those age bands can it please be in ten-year age bands.)
We wil consider your request against the provisions of the Official Information Act (see overleaf) and advise
you of our decision regarding the release of information within 20 working days (being the statutory timeframe
provided within the Act.)
Accordingly, and taking into account public holidays for Easter, we wil notify you no later than 20 April 2021 of
our decision.

15 Decisions on requests
(1) Subject to this Act, the department or Minister of the Crown or organisation to whom a request is made in accordance wit
h section 12
or is transferred in accordance wit
h section 14 of this Act
or section 12 of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
1987 shal , as soon as reasonably practicable, and in any case not later than 20 working days after the day on which the request is received
by that department or Minister of the Crown or organisation,—
(1)(a) decide whether the request is to be granted and, if it is to be granted, in what manner and for what charge (if any); and
(1)(b) give or post to the person who made the request notice of the decision on the request
[If we are unable to make a decision on your request by the date noted above, we will notify you of an extension of that timeframe.]
