Official  Information  Act  request  relating  to  a  Sustainable  Development  Unit  at  the 
Ministry of Health 
 
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request which was transferred from 
the  Ministry  of  Health  to  the  Department  of  the  Prime  Minister  and  Cabinet  (DPMC)  on 
19 May 2021. You requested: 
 
“Has there been a budget request to fund a sustainable development unit (similar to the 
NHS SDU) at Ministry of Health?” 
 
A centralised sustainable development unit is something that the new entities might consider 
in  the  future.  However,  at  this  time,  the  Health  Transition  Unit  within  DPMC  does  not  hold 
any  information  on  the  creation  of  such  a  Unit.  Accordingly,  the  information  you  have 
requested  does  not  exist  and  I  therefore  must  refuse  your  request  pursuant  to  section 
18(g)(i) of the Act.  
 
You  have  the  right  to  ask  the  Ombudsman  to  investigate  and  review  my  decision  under 
section 28(3) of the Act. 
 
We do not intend to publish this response on DPMC’s website.
