Response to your request for official information 
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of 
Health (the Ministry) on 26 May 2021 regarding the proactively released ‘Infection prevention 
and control audits of managed isolation and quarantine facilities’ briefing from 15 January 2021. 
Specifically, you requested: 
“..all internal correspondence about the decision to redact this particular table, including 
(but not limited to) the specific evaluation you must have performed to consider why the 
s.9.1. public interest provision does not apply in this case. Correspondence here is likely
to mean internal emails.”
The internal correspondence within scope of your request is attached to this letter as Appendix 
1. Mobile numbers are withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to maintain the privacy of
natural persons.
I note that you also requested to reconsider the redactions on the proactively released Infection 
Prevention and Control (IPC) Audit document dated 15 February 2021. The Ministry is satisfied 
about the basis on which the information was withheld and maintains its decision. This reflects 
the particular commercial context and circumstances in which facilities are operating, their 
ongoing commercial interests both now and in future, and the likely prejudice to their 
commercial position, particularly by damaging their reputation leading to a loss of business or 
trade; or by damaging shareholder, customer or supplier confidence. 
You are welcome to seek a review of this decision by contacting the Ombudsman. Under 
section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any decisions made
