Thank you for your Official Information Act (Act) request received by the Department of Internal
Affairs (Department) on 3 June 2021.
You requested –
I wish to request under the Official Information Act all documents, assessment notes and
information relating to any application for funding for St Gerard's Church in Wellington.
The Department has prepared a partial response to your request at this time. In this response I
can provide you with the following information.
All applications for funding in relation to Saint Gerards Church in Wellington have been applied
for under the Lottery Environment and Heritage fund.
The Lottery Environment and Heritage fund provides grants for plans, reports and one-off
projects that will protect, conserve and promote New Zealand’s natural, cultural and physical
heritage.
There are 4 applications that fall within the scope of your request.
Grants applied for between 2010-2014
Please find attached at Appendix A – information relating to 3 applications applied for between
2010 and 2014. Please note, these requests were administered in the Department’s old grant
application system that is no longer in use. We have been able to provide you with an extract
only of the information that the Department still holds about these grants from this historic
system.
Grant applied for in 2017
Attached at Appendix B, you will find the most recent application for funding in relation to Saint
Gerards Church in Wellington. This application form has been extracted from the current Grant
Central Management System, hence why the information appears differently to those grants
above.
You will note on the form that some information has been withheld as outside the scope of your
request. This is the Department’s view of the application form and shows internal information
that was not submitted by the group. Assessment notes written by the Advisor working on the
request are still included as requested.
Personal information relating to the individuals who submitted the request on behalf of their
organisation such as names and contact details has been withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the
OIA – to protect the privacy of natural persons including that of a deceased natural person.
Supporting documentation for 2017 grant
The supporting documentation supplied for this grant also falls within the scope of your request.
The Department will respond to this part of your request as soon as consultations necessary to
make a decision on the information are completed. We expect this to be within the next two
weeks.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
