Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 4 June 2021 to the Ministry of 
Justice regarding civil restraint orders. Specifically, your request was: 
 
“…how many CIVIL RESTRAINT ORDERS been granted by the family court since 2010 TO 
PREVENT MERITLESS CASES and pursuant to which Act were they granted ? 
 
I want to know the total number per year filed / dismissed / granted from 2010 to 2020 / per 
gender and per court location.” 
 
In response to your request, I can advise no applications for civil restraint orders, to prevent 
unwarranted or meritless cases, have been filed in the Family Court since 2010.
