Dear Mr McLean
Thank you for your request, received on 28 July 2021 via the FYI website, for clarification of
data published on the Authority’s EMI website.
We acknowledge the feedback you have provided regarding the data available, and your
concern over its accuracy. As a result of your query we asked Top Energy for an explanation on
the change in reporting and they provided the following response:
“Data reported against the Ngawha power stations changed as a result of Ngawha Generation
initially applying the loss category code for the existing generation plant (GEN1) rather than the
new loss category code for the new generation plant (GEN2). After being notified by the
Authority that data was being submitted incorrectly, the correct loss category code (GEN2) has
been applied to the new generation station and the data corrected through the standard washup
process. The loss category codes GEN1 and GEN2 both have the same value of 1.00 but a
separate loss category code is a requirement of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010
as the new embedded generating station has a capacity 10MW or more.”
We trust this answers your query.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of our response.
