Thank you for your email of 21 June 2021 requesting updated information about the
Corrections’ Patron Programme. Your request has been considered under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).
You have requested:
1. May I kindly ask you provide an updates on the wing patron’s list and their bio
to 1st June 2021.
Since our previous correspondence on 25 October 2019 (our ref C113520), there
have been 20 new wing Patrons up until 1 June 2021.

With the exception of Paul Tomlinson, biographical information for each of our
Patrons is publicly available online.

Paul Tomlinson’s career with Corrections began as a probation officer in September
1978 and from this role he progressed through leadership opportunities in the North
and South Islands. Paul’s last role was Lower North Regional Commissioner. He
was responsible for around 2,500 staff based in the region. Within the region there
are nearly 30 Community Corrections (probation) sites, as well as four men’s prisons
and one women’s prison. Paul retired from Corrections in 2019, after 41 years of
service.
2. Also how many nominations from general public you have received so far
between 1st January 2019 to 1st June 2021,

4. how many you have declined and how many you still under consideration.
Presently, we rely on the public approaching us for any public nominations for a
Patron role. Between the date ranges that you have specified, we have not been
approached for any public nominations. As mentioned in our October 2019
correspondence, the general public are welcome to put forward nominations. If you
have someone in mind, please forward your nomination to: [Department of Corrections request email].
Please note that this response may be published on Corrections’ website. Typically,
responses are published quarterly, or as otherwise determined. Your personal
information including name and contact details will be removed for publication.
