Dear John
Information Request – Local Advisory Committees
I refer to your official information request dated 7 July 2021 asking for information on Fire and
Emergency’s Local Advisory Committees (“LACs”). You asked:
“May I kindly ask if there is any further updates on this and any timeline been set. You previously
response mentioned
‘We will be evaluating the establishment of the first seven LACs before setting up the remaining
LACs. The evaluation is planned for 2021 and we will be incorporating the findings from the
evaluation into future plans for establishing LACs across the country.’
May I ask if the evaluation been completed or not and what’s the updates on the evaluation. Can
you release the evaluation report if it has been completed?”
Decisions on the specific timing for setting up the remaining LACs are yet to be made. Fire and
Emergency New Zealand expects to receive the evaluation report on the establishment of the first
seven LACs by the end of this month. This will be followed by work to consider the findings of the
evaluation and how best to implement them. Your request for the report is therefore declined
under section 18(g) of the Official Information Act 1982 as, at the time of this decision, the
information is not held by Fire and Emergency and we have no grounds for believing is it is held by
another organisation.
You may wish to make a request for the evaluation report at a later date at which time we will
likely hold the completed report.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is availab
le at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or

Yours sincerely
