Transferring the request you made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email of 8 July 2021 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
1. The projection for patronage levels for the Te Huia train service from when it was launched
till the next 5 years (or till a point that is the end of the projection the Ministry has if such
projection ends sooner than 2026), presented as daily number of people using the train
service. The methodology of estimation is optional.
2. The annual costs of operation of the Te Huia train service in 2021, and projected rise in
such costs of operation in 2022, and if it happens to be available, until 2026.
The information you have requested is more closely connected with the functions of Waikato Regional
Council than with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. Therefore, I am transferring your request to
Waikato Regional Council under section 14 of the Official Information Act 1982.
The time limit for their response to you is 20 working days from 8 July 2021, so you can expect a
response from Waikato Regional Council on or before 5 August 2021.
