Dear Matthew,
14 JULY 2021: OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT REQUEST
In your email received 14 July 2021, you requested the fol owing information under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
“Under the Official Information Act, please advise on what date the Commission first
became aware of the proposed film project which has developed into “They Are Us”. I seek
only the date.”
The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) has received two requests for information under
the OIA that ask for al documents and correspondence in relation to the film project
They
Are Us. These responses have been published on the NZFC website and include the
chronology of NZFC engagement with the filmmakers, including the date the NZFC first
became aware of the film. You may access these responses by visiting:
https://www.nzfilm.co.nz/requests-official-information.
Whilst there has been engagement with the producing team on the project,
They Are Us has
been developed entirely independently of NZFC development funding structures. The NZFC
has not received any applications for development funding, production funding or the New
Zealand Government’s screen incentives scheme, the New Zealand Screen Production Grant
in relation to
They Are Us.
Please be aware that you have the right, by way of complaint to an Ombudsman under
section 28(3) of the Official Information Act, to seek an investigation and review of our
response.
Yours sincerely
Tayla Hancock
