Official Information Act 1982 request
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 27 July 2021 for the following
information:
1. Data regarding the number of homicide/murder cases currently before the Courts
2. Data regarding the number of homicide cases heard and/or decided on in the past three
months
3. A breakdown of these cases by verdict e.g. stil being heard, guilty, not guilty, charge
reduced to manslaughter, or something similar
In response to the first part of your request, as at the 30 June 2021, there were 101 active cases for
murder or manslaughter. This data includes cases awaiting sentencing as well as those awaiting trial,
or in the early stages of the court process.
In response to the second and third parts of your request, please refer to the attached table which
provides the number of disposed homicide cases which is then broken down by disposal type. The
data provided is from 1 April 2021 to 30 June 2021.
