Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on 17 September
2021. You requested:
“ONE: "Review of the Ministerial Policy Statements under the Intelligence and Security

TWO: “Review of the Overseas Cooperation Ministerial Policy Statement: Proposed
Consultation Plan” [1920NSP/031]
THREE: “Proposed Revised Approach for Reviewing the Ministerial Policy Statements”
[1920NSP/081]
FOUR: “Consultation on Ministerial Policy Statement: Conducting surveillance in a
public place” [1920NSP/054]
FIVE: "Review of the Ministerial Policy Statements ‐
revised timing” [2021NSP/010]
SIX: “Consultation on ministerial policy statement: cooperating with overseas public
authorities” [2021NSP/030]
SEVEN: Any other briefings on the topic of Ministerial Policy Statements, dated since
the beginning of 2021.”
In relation to question seven, I note that two additional briefings have been identified in
relation to this part of your request, these are:

Consultation on three Ministerial Policy Statements, 8 April 2021 [2021NSP/086]
The information you have requested is all related to the ongoing review of Ministerial Policy
Statements and is still subject to active consideration as a decision is yet to be made on this
matter. As such, I am withholding these documents under section 9(2)(f)(iv), to protect the
confidentiality of advice tendered to ministers. Once a decision is made, the Ministerial Policy
Statements will be made publicly available. One such Statement can be found on the NZIC
website at the following address

section 28(3) of the Act.
