Dear Matthew Hooton
Official Information Act request relating to New Zealand’s Climate Change
Policies effects on other nations
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act),
received on 18 September 2021. You requested:
“all Cabinet and Cabinet Committee papers and minutes since the 2017 change
of Government to today's date that consider the likely effects of New Zealand’s
climate change policies on the climate change policies of other countries,
especially the top 20 global emitters; and what consideration the Cabinet has
given to this matter when forming, reviewing and setting New Zealand's climate
change policies and negotiation positions for international conferences and other
climate change diplomacy.”
I believe that the information you have requested is more closely connected to the
functions of the Minister of Climate Change, Hon James Shaw. Accordingly, I have
decided under section 14(b)(ii) of the Act to transfer your request to the Minister of
Climate Change, Hon James Shaw.
The Minister of Climate Change has the usual timeframes under the Act from receipt of
this transfer to make a decision on your request.
Yours sincerely
Sarah Corbett
