Dear Minister
Official Information Act request relating to New Zealand’s Climate Change Policies
effects on other nations
On 18 September 2021, I received the
attached Official Information Act 1982 (the Act)
request from Matthew Hooton. The request was for:
“all Cabinet and Cabinet Committee papers and minutes since the 2017 change of
Government to today's date that consider the likely effects of New Zealand’s climate
change policies on the climate change policies of other countries, especially the top 20
global emitters; and what consideration the Cabinet has given to this matter when
forming, reviewing and setting New Zealand's climate change policies and negotiation
positions for international conferences and other climate change diplomacy.”
I believe that the information requested is more closely connected to the functions of your
portfolio as the Minister of Climate Change. Accordingly, I have decided under section
14(b)(ii) of the Act to transfer the request to you.
I have today informed the requestor of the transfer, and that you have the usual timeframes
under the Act to make a decision on this request.
Yours sincerely
Sarah Corbett
