Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your follow up request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the
Ministry of Health (the Ministry) on 1 November 2021. You asked:
“In Parliamentary Written Question 38175, the Minister for COVID-19 Response provided
a table of Bluetooth key uploads and alerts generated between 17 August and 1
September 2021. In OIA H202114061, the Ministry of Health provided updated data up to
1 October.
I would like to request an updated table that contains:
a) the number of Bluetooth key uploads and alerts generated
b) the number of QR code GLN uploads and alerts generated
c) the number of locations that NZ COVID Trace alerts were issued for
each day between 1 October and 31 October 2021 please.”
Please find attached two documents detailing the number of Bluetooth tracing key uploads,
Bluetooth tracing alerts generated, diary uploads, and QR code GLN location alerts between 1
and 30 October 2021.
Please note the following when considering the data:
• This only includes exposure events of interest related to diary uploads. It does not
include events of interest where the event was notified during case interview, or other
means.
• GLN uploads are from complete diary uploads and are not only restricted to the
infectious period.
• 378 unique locations had alerts sent out over this period; however, this information
currently isn’t available split by day.
I trust this information fulfils your request. Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to
ask the Ombudsman to review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may
be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
Please note that this response, with your personal details removed, may be published on the
Ministry of Health website at:
