Ref: DOIA 2122-1703
Dear Davinder,
Thank you for your email of 8 November 2021 requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act),
the following information:
Can I please have your assistance in gathering some information regarding the SMC residency
applications that are being sent to the Quality control team
1. As of 8 November 2021, what is the date of application (SMC Application) for the files that are
at the front of the queue (to be allocated to an officer in the Quality Control Team)?
2. What is the current waiting time for a file to be allocated to an officer in the Quality Control
Team?
3. My file is in the queue to be assigned to a Quality control assessment since 29 July 2021 and
still has had no officer assigned to my case. Are such long lead times normal? If not can you
please let me know the reason for such long waiting times.
Our Response
1. As at 25 November 2021 the oldest application in the Skilled Migrant Category quality check
queue pending a check from a Technical Advisor was put in the queue on the 19 November
2021.
2. Applications are in the queue for approximately 4-5 days before they are allocated to a Technical
Advisor for a quality check. It is possible that some applications have been returned to an
Immigration Officer requiring further information before the application can be decided.
3. We wrote to you on 26 November 2021 requesting information about your application to be
able to provide you with a more fulsome response, however we did not receive a
response. Without this information, we are unable to answer your question. Please contact
your Immigration Officer or the Immigration Contact Centre on 0800 558 855 and they will be
able to provide you with an update.
