Official Information Act Requests
The Ministry of Health transferred four Official Information Act requests from you on 9
December 2021 seeking the following information:

Please provide Guidelines/procedure differentiating subtypes of primary (idiopathic)
constipation
Northland DHB has no specific guideline or procedure.
• Please provide Guidelines/procedure in the treatment of patients after a suicide
attempt and/or suicidal ideation
Northland DHB does not have a guideline/procedure for treatment of patients post suicide
attempt and/or suicidal ideation. Our clinicians undertake assessments for risk and
complete risk management planning with clients and whanau to mitigate risks identified.

Please provide Guidelines/procedure for the management/prevention of persistent
Postsurgical Pain
There is no specific guideline or procedure that outlines the approach in treating uncontrolled
post-operative pain. The focus is on identifying risk factors and managing these to prevent
poor post-operative pain control. The team use a variety of tools, medications and
approaches for this.
Postoperative pain: IV opioid use in adults and
Drug Protocol:
Ketamine Infusion for Chronic Pain Management are attached.

Retention (POUR)
There is no specific guideline or procedure. Attached is Northland DHB's
