OPIOID MIXTURES
SEDATION SCORES
MORPHINE 10mg in 10ml (1mg/ml);
1. Nil.
- Awake, alert.
or
2. Mild. - Asleep but rouses to voice.
FENTANYL 100microg in 10ml (10microg/ml).
3. Mod. - Asleep but rouses to touch.
Prepare 10ml syringe using 0.9% sodium chloride
(normal saline) as dilutent
4. Severe - Asleep/unrousable.

Recovery staff to notify Anaesthetist if patient remains in pain after one entire (10ml) syringe is
administered.
Consider NSAIDs or local anaesthetic technique.
•
Patient to remain in PACU for minimum of 15 minutes after last opioid dose.
