Kia ora Nic,
Official Information request regarding Creative New Zealand Conflict of
Interest register
I refer to your official information request, dated 7 December 2021, for
Creative New Zealand’s Conflict of Interest registers for board and staff,
including dating back to when any recurrently funded organisations first
received funding.
Your request has been addressed under the provisions of the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), which is based on the concept that
information held by government agencies should be made available on
request unless there is good reason for withholding it.
Creative New Zealand does not hold a combined Conflict of Interest
register for staff. All staff complete an annual Conflict of Interest
update (attached). This is kept on record and can be updated throughout
the year as required. Creative New Zealand declines to provide this
information back to when any recurrently funded organisations first
received funding as the information cannot be made available without
substantial collation or research (section 18 (f)).
As above, Creative New Zealand declines to provide all Arts Council
Conflict of Interest registers back to when any recurrently funded
organisations first received funding as it the information cannot be made
available without substantial collation or research (section 18 (f)).
We have however released the three most recent registers (July, October
and December 2021 attached). The Arts Council Conflict of Interest Policy
is appended in the attached registers for your reference.
If there are specific issues you are interested in, please let us know.
If you wish to discuss this information request, please contact Pip

Dear Pip O'Flaherty,
In my original request it included conflicts regarding staff members, which seems to have been excluded from the supplied files.

From: Nic Lane
Dear Pip O'Flaherty,
Can I please just narrow down the scope to Cath Cardiff, as they're a person the sector often identifies as having conflicts of interests that aren't transparent. Conflicts of interest beginning from 1997.
Thanks,
Nic Lane
From: Nic Lane
Dear Pip O'Flaherty,
Can you confirm this request has been received, or if we need to contact the Ombudsman to receive the transparency we're looking for?
Thanks,
