Thank you for your request of 30 December 2021, via FYI.org, seeking, pursuant to
the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
…copies of any and all Cabinet papers, submitted between 01 July and 30 Nov 2021,
by you or your office as Minister of Defence to Cabinet, referencing either the COVID-
19 vaccine and/or the mandating of vaccination for Defence Force staff.
In addition please supply a copy of all papers submitted to cabinet concerning COVID-
19 between the same dates.
As Minister of Defence I have not submitted any Cabinet papers referencing either the
COVID-19 vaccine and/or the mandating of vaccination for Defence Force staff, or
concerning COVID-19, between 1 July and 30 November 2021. Your request is
therefore declined in accordance with section 18(e) of the Act.
Please note that the Government has required all agencies to address the
Government’s priorities in their Cabinet submissions. Objective 1 of these priorities is
to keep New Zealanders safe from COVID-19, therefore all Cabinet papers wil in
some way address Objective 1. Copies of Defence Cabinet papers approved for public
release are available on the Ministry of Defence and New Zealand Defence force
websites.
Under section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to request the Ombudsman
investigate and review my response to your request
